5 Tips To Shopping For Hyundai Cars

Shopping for Hyundai cars is not significantly different that shopping for any other type of automobile. A little common sense will go a long way in making sure that you get the best car for your buck and for your lifestyle. Below are a few tips to help make your shopping experience a smooth ride.

Hyundai Cars Shopping Tip # 1
First and foremost, consider your budget and how much you can comfortably spend on your new car. Whether you are paying cash or plan on having your new car financed, affordability will have a large impact on which car you ultimately choose. Plan out a realistic budget and stick to it.

Hyundai Cars Shopping Tip # 2
Consider how the car will be used. Are you single or married? Do you have children? Do you travel a lot and, if so, is storage or transportation a major issue? The answers to each of these questions will help you to choose a car that is the right size for your needs. If you are single and plan to use your new car for work, a compact design may be ideal. Less fuel consumption and more wiggle room in parking spaces may be an attractive benefit. If you have a family or do a lot of traveling, whether for business or pleasure, a roomier car may be the better option to ensure that everyone has plenty of space and is comfortable.

Hyundai Cars Shopping Tip # 3
Take the time to speak with your auto insurance agent about the cost of insurance. A sporty car will be higher priced, in both the sale price and insurance, than a family car. The theory is that a sporty car is purchased for the purpose of being driven fast, which is why insurance may be higher. A family car, however, is thought to be used for the family and may not be such a high risk, as far as insurance agents are concerned.

Hyundai Cars Shopping Tip # 4
It's all about the features and what you want to get out of your car. If you want all of the bells and whistles, you will be paying for them. Optional features on a car will be more expensive than a basic model, which is for the more conservative car owner.

Hyundai Cars Shopping Tip # 5
When shopping for any automobile, including Hyundai cars, it is best to shop with a dealership that is willing to work with you in getting the best deal possible. If you happen to come in contact with a salesperson that simply will not budge on the price, don't be afraid to walk away. The sticker price is just a bargaining price and is not the lowest price for most reasonable dealerships. As with any number, there is always a little wiggle room. If the salesperson won't wiggle, then you walk away.

As a final thought to shopping for Hyundai cars, consider the warranty coverage. If you are purchasing a new automobile, you will receive a manufacturer's warranty included in the price. If you are purchasing a used car, ask the dealer about an extended warranty and whether or not one is available with your choice of Hyundai cars.

The PS3 Rumor Mill: Upcoming Games and Rumors

The system looks amazing. Though the need to fix a few minor bugs resulted in the PlayStation 3's release date being pushed back, this has not diminished the excitement over the console's impending release. Even though the Sony PS3 is designed to be more than a video game system, but to be an entirely new leap in multi-media in general, that does not change the fact that everything starts with the gaming system, and the gamers need to be satisfied if Sony is going to keep its strong showing in the video game market place. So it is no surprise that the rumor mills are full of speculations, thought, fact, and hope on what series of games the new PS3 system is going to bring with it.

It is all but certain that the release of the PS3 will coincide with the release of the latest Grand Theft Auto game. This extremely controversial video game series may get protests and angry letters, but nevertheless it will also sell over a million copies because it has grown to include a huge following. Anytime a video game can create its own franchise, you can bet that a company is going to ride that as far as it will go. It's simply supply and demand: as long as the demand exists a company will always rather invest in a game with a following than go out on a limb with a new title.

Along the same lines, rumor has it that the PS3 will also be releasing several other games that belong to their own series. Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots will be the newest, and final, game in the Metal Gear Solid series. Plans are also set up for the release of Resident Evil 5, Unreal Tournament 2007, and Devil May Cry 4. By releasing a series of games like this, Sony is guaranteeing that fans of some very different types of video game sagas will all still have a reason to purchase this system. One of the most popular rumors, though this one has yet to show any proof, is that Sony is looking to re-make Final Fantasy 7, one of the most popular installments of maybe the most popular video game series in history, and write the programming to work on a PS3 with all new and more advanced graphics. If this rumor pans out, it would be a dream come true for many an RPG fan.

Panasonic Pv-gs400 3 Ccd Camcorder And Ways To Use It To Earn Extra Income

Let me share with you something that happened to me just the other day.

I was contacted by a guy named David. He had just purchased a panasonic pv-gs400 3 ccd camcorder and has always been attracted to the videographers lifestyle. He also liked the possibility of earning an extra income doing something that can be a whole lot of fun.

From speaking to David I discovered that he didn't have much experience with camcorders and was unsure as to whether he would be any good (he seemed to lack a bit of self confidence), but was atleast willing to learn and have a go.

He wasn't too far from where I live me so I said I was able to get in the car and have a personal meeting with him.

One of his questions to me on the phone was "what should I film?" I told him of the traditional markets - Weddings, Business videos Training videos. Good areas to get started in and the most obvious subjects to film.

David lives in a growth area, outer suburbs continually building and expanding. I found myself driving past new homes being built, young families together in parks, sporting fields and large shopping malls.

Then it dawned on me! It was so obvious the potential subjects, and clients, David had in his own backyard!

The Builder

* video proof of the quality that goes into his work

* satisfied customer testimonials

Sporting Clubs

* club records of big games

* match/play review and training tapes

Parents

* children's party videos

* records of their child's achievements (academic, sporting etc.)

Business

* local shops and businesses provide potential customers with a video of services

...and the list goes on. So if you find yourself short of ideas on what to film, have a good look around you. The answer might be right under your nose.

Now back to David. He inadvertently made a great choice in the the panasonic pv-gs400 3 ccd camcorder.

It is a great tool for providing a quality finish which will be a high priority as he will be charging for the work he does. It has 3 separate image chips which help give definition to the completed video and for such a top quality camcorder is very reasonably priced.

So with just a few more tools (tripod, lights, external microphone etc.), David is well on his way to a career (either full or part time) in video production.

Issues with bringing your Cell Phone Abroad

Why aren't all Cell phones Compatible?
There are two answers to this question. First, there are various different types of radio frequencies and encoding services which different cell phone services use - and if your phone doesn't receive the frequency and encoding of the local service, it becomes, of course, useless.

The second problem is a commercial issue - your phone will only work on other companies' services if there is a cross-billing (i.e. roaming) agreement between the mobile network suppliers. Roaming is common within the US, but becomes more problematic internationally.

To get cell phone service in another country you need both a compatible phone and a compatible account. Your best bet is to rent a cellular phone, either in the US or overseas, but be sure you get one that will be compatible internationally in the countries you plan on travelling to. There are several different ways of getting airtime as well. Read on for an explanation of all these issues and suggestions on the best way to get a phone working.

Frequency and Compatibility Issues
The good news is that almost everywhere in the world (except for the US and Canada) uses GSM type digital cell phone service. This service was originally at a frequency of 900 MHz and now increasingly is being upgraded to an 1800 MHz service. If you have a GSM phone, in theory you can access service in 212 different countries!
Although the US and Canada have some GSM service, most cellular phone services are of a different type and a different frequency as well!

Unfortunately, the GSM service in North America is in different frequency bands to the rest of the world - 1900 and sometimes 850 MHz instead of 1800 and 900 MHz. And there is no way that a 1900MHz phone will work at 1800 MHz (or vice versa). Frustrating, isn't it!?

Note that not all other countries use regular 900/1800 MHz GSM. Notable exceptions include Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, and some Central/South American countries, although there may be some limited coverage GSM networks in these countries, and/or GSM networks at the US 1900MHz frequency.

Blu-Ray DVD Advantages

Having HD capable DVDs is an incredible form of medium. HD channels have started to flood our cable boxes with everything from sports to movies. The problem seems to be when you flip through the channels and there is nothing to watch. You would like to be able to pick a movie from your library but you cannot because they will not look as good on you HD TV. The technology is finally here to utilize that big screen that you bought or have been planning to buy. HD quality television channels have been springing up, but you are still subject to what is on their channels. Some cable networks do offer a DVR that can record HD shows. The problem is that HD programming takes up much more room on your DVR than you think. Regular programming can be stored up to about 44 hours on a regular DVR. If you plan to record HD programming, the same DVR will only record about 16 hours of footage.
Blu-Ray DVD brings us the movies that we love and the quality that we demand. Watching a regular DVD on your HD set can actually bring out the flaws in the resolution. HD TVs have such a tremendous resolution that you cannot watch regular programming on them. The picture is so clear that you see the pixilation of non-HD video. Blu-Ray DVD gives you HD quality video and sound. Movies that you have seen before will jump out to you in a new light. Blu-Ray DVD promises the best quality movie experience as well as all the extras that you would expect from a DVD. The Blu-Ray DVD can hold much more information that just a HD movie. You will be able to get the best movie experience and also see the behind-the-scenes footage. Whether you have a HD TV or you are itching to buy one, the time has finally come to invest in the HD experience. There are many television channels as well as HD quality DVDs to support old or new HD TVs. It is the best time to finally join the HD revolution. Cable, video games and DVD are all HD capable now, shouldn't your television be?

Talking Rugged Notebook

A rugged notebook offers mobile professionals the ability to work in any environment and in any location. Versatile and powerful, rugged notebook computers are designed specifically for both in-plant and outdoor industrial (and military) applications. Built to handle the toughest environments, fully ruggedized notebooks should have IP54 environmental protection, meet MIL-STD 810F and have heavy duty - generally magnesium alloy - cases. Rugged notebook computers enable professionals to work smoothly in adverse environments and are adequately equipped to face almost any tough situation with ease. Naturally, these rugged notebook computers are heavier than non-rugged models but offer substantially more protection than standard laptops. RuggedNotebooks.com offer a variety of semi-rugged and rugged notebooks, wireless tablets and even rugged PDAs in their Recon series. They also offer custom solutions.

Arguably the most rugged and heavy-duty notebook available is the Rough Rider III from www.RuggedNotebooks.com. Meeting IEC and MIL-STD 810F, temperature, humidity, altitude, shock, vibration and drop standards, the case also conforms to IEC 529 and Ingress IP 54 requirements. It has extensive configuration options and a second bay available with internal PCI connector that supports a wide variety of options including two additional COM ports (RS232, RS422, or RS 485), two additional PCMCIA slots, a SCSI-2 port, DGPS or wireless modules, an auxiliary battery, or fixed floppy drive. It can be configured with 1.4 or 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium M processor, up to 2GB of DDR RAM, a 60GB HDD, and up to a 14.1 inch screen. It also provides extended wireless communications with 802.11b Wi-Fi, GSM/GPRS and DataTAC connectivity. As you might expect, all this ruggedness comes with a penalty and with the primary battery installed, the Rough Rider III rugged notebook weighs 12.7 pounds, definitely not a light-weight.

RuggedNotebooks.com offers a variety of semi-rugged and rugged notebooks, wireless tablets and even rugged PDAs in their Recon series. They also offer custom solutions. As one of the premier providers of notebook computers that meet and exceed military (810F and 461E) and industry standards (IP54), anyone interested in a high quality semi- or rugged notebook should make it a point to check them out.

Sterling Computer Sales in Landenberg, PA, offers a series of rugged notebooks meeting MIL STD 810E (which primarily involves small drops and rough transport). Their RB1500 has a rubber mounted HDD, spill-proof keyboard and magnesium alloy case. It comes with a 15.1 inch TFT boasting sXGA+ resolution (1400X1050) and a Pentium 4 Mobile 1.6Ghz processor. You can stuff it with up to 2GB of DDR ram and a 100GB HD. For communications this rugged notebook includes modem, Ethernet and 802.11b/g Wireless. This might be better considered a semi-rugged, but the price with default options starts at only $1,595.

The Durabook N15RI is a rugged notebook that has a magnesium alloy top and bottom case - which is 20 times stronger than plastic. This rugged notebook has anti-shock mounting and spill-resistant keyboard, scroll buttons and touch-pad. While it meets some (modified) 810F military specifications for ruggedness it doesn't appear to be IP54 compliant and is probably best viewed as a more rugged than usual semi-rugged notebook. It still provides the mobile professional with a tough, durable notebook at a more reasonable price than a fully rugged notebook.

HP also has a rugged notebook series - the HP nr3610 Rugged Notebook. This model meets MIL STD for ruggedness in the areas of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), low pressure, humidity, sealing, temperature and vibration - and the Ingress IP-54 Protection rating for dust and water. However, it is very pricey for a notebook with a 12.1 LCD (over $4000) and nearly impossible to find currently.

Another rugged notebook, offering the choice of 14.1" and 15" Tflex displays - which work very well both outdoors and indoors, is the Argonaut Ranger. The hard drive and LCD are both shock mounted and the case is constructed of magnesium alloy. Both models of this rugged notebook - Argonaut Ranger - meet military specifications for ruggedness. The keyboard is spill-proof and the circuitry of this rugged notebook makes use of anti-corrosive technology for extra protection. Designed particularly for marine use the TFlex display works extremely well under any lighting conditions - from full darkness to direct sunlight.

Panasonic has its ToughBook line of semi-rugged and rugged notebook computers which are also worth looking into. The semi-rugged notebooks have a variety of features from the T2 with touchscreen weighing in at only 2.7 pounds to the Toughbook 51, available with a 2GHz Intel Pentium M 760, a shock-mounted 80 GB HDD and up to 2 GB of DDR2 SDRAM, with a 15 inch TFT Active Matrix Color LCD and a standard Combo Drive of a DVD multi-drive, weighing in at about 6.7 pounds. Base pricing for the T51 seems to start around $1600.

The Panasonic Toughbook-29 is a fully rugged notebook tested to MIL STD 810F. The vibration and drop-shock resistant design has Intel Centrino Mobile Tech and integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN. It has a 13.3 inch outdoor-readable TFT Active Matrix Color LCD (optional touchscreen), a shock-mounted removable HDD in a stainless steel case, sealed port and connector covers and a full magnesium alloy case with handle. With battery and floppy drive it weighs 7.9 pounds. Base version pricing seems to be around $3500 currently.

One thing you need to be aware of about rugged notebooks - particularly full MIL-STD ruggedized models - they can be a little hard to find at your local computer store - or even on some of the big internet sites. The substantial added costs of manufacture and testing - and sometimes, the performance compromises that are made, make them a questionable option for the usual notebook user. If you will be working under harsh conditions, then they may be your only rational choice. However, for a user who will simply be doing a lot of traveling, day in and day out, and wants a notebook computer that can better tolerate the inevitable shocks and bumps, a semi-rugged notebook could be a much more affordable option, providing reasonable protection and better performance at a lower price.

LCD TV Review - Get the Best for Less

What is an LCD TV

An LCD (light crystal display) screen consist of a thin layer of liquid crystals sandwiched between two plates of glass. When an electric current is sent through these crystals an array of tiny multi-colored pixels light up and produce a TV picture.

Because they're so thin and light, LCD screens are now the most popular screens for computers, and as prices come down, are becoming the most popular screens for TVs.

LCD TV screens are 1/4" to 4" thick, and are 2" to 65" wide. LCD TVs can cost anywhere from $50 for a hand held model to $15,000 for a 65" widescreen TV.

LCD TV Features

* LCD TVs utilize digital technology which gives you a much sharper and clearer picture than a standard tube TV.

* LCD TV screens are thin and lightweight so they can be placed almost anywhere in a home or office, even hung on a wall.

* Most LCD TV screens are manufactured in widescreen format and are compatible with widescreen DVD'S and HD programming.

* LCD TVs have a flat screen so there's no picture distortion as there is with curved tube TVs.

* LCD TV screens have a life span of 50,000 to 80,000 hours, depending on the make and model of the LCD TV.

* LCD TVs don't suffer from screen "burn in" like tube TVs.

Getting the Best Price on an LCD TV

If you're in the market for an LCD TV, keep in mind that prices can vary widely between retailers. That's why I recommend checking out LCD TV models at a local electronics store, then checking prices online before you buy one.

Take a trip to our local Best Buy, Circuit City, or Wal-Mart to test various HD TV models. Watch the picture, test the controls, and ask the salesperson any questions you may have.

Then, when you've picked out a model you like, go online to see where you can get it at the best price.

I recently checked prices on a comparison shopping website for a Panasonic LCD TV and the price difference between retailers varied by more than $1,000. It's amazing what bargains you can find online.

The website I used to check prices also included buyer reviews so I also got honest feedback from people who had actually purchased the LCD TV model I was interested in (can click on the link below to visit this website).

Prices for LCD TVs start at $300 for a 19" TV, $900 for a 32" TV, and $2,000 for a 40" TV.

Conclusion

If you spend most of your evening hours watching television like I do, and you want a picture with near lifelike quality, then an HD TV set is what you're after.

How to repair computer errors

When you have a computer error it can be very frustrating, especially if the error prevents software from running or your computer even starting. If you add the internet to the mix, your computer will get viruses, spyware, adware and other malicious software that will cause errors on your machine.

All errors can be fixed by the average person though; you just need to know what you are trying to remove and the right software to remove it. This can be a daunting task to someone not so tech savvy, so I will take you through the different threats that exist on the internet and your PC.

Spyware is perhaps one of the most dangerous types of PC infections to date. If a computer gets infected with spyware, a person could keep track of your every keystroke, email, website visit and other confidential conversations you might partake in. So if you do things like online banking, a person could use the spyware to find out all of your information and do what illegal acts they want to with it.

The next internet threat is adware and isn't as dangerous as spyware, but can be very annoying. I despise any company or individual who develops adware because it is intrusive and no better then spam. Adware is advertisement software that usually attaches to free software that most people download. And even if you are connected to the internet or not adware can show advertisements. It will also do this even if the original download is not running. Adware ads come in many different forms, like pop-ups, URL redirection and many other things that anyone would find annoying.

Most people use Windows, if you don't then you can skip this part. If you do, then you should know that Windows uses registry files and these registry files could be causing errors for you. When registry files have invalid entries this can cause error messages and crashes. Also if you remove orphaned references in your registry you can increase your PC's performance and stability.

Viruses are the main reason people have computer errors, especially if you are connected to the internet. If the computer does not have any internet connection, then a virus could have only gotten on their by someone inserting data that has been infected by a malicious virus.

A Trojan virus is the most common type of virus and you should know how it works to avoid it. A Trojan virus hides in a program that appears as something you may think is safe, but hidden inside is usually something harmful, like a virus. Trojans are so common because you may download a game or even a picture thinking it is harmless, but once you run the file, the virus gets let loose.

If this is the first time you have ever tried to remove these errors from your computer, then you can expect to find a lot. That is why I recommend you get a good computer error removal program and use it at least once a month.

With this knowledge of all the different types of computer errors, you should be able properly diagnose what is causing the errors on your computer and fix it. Do not be discouraged if all errors aren't fixed right away, as it could be all of the above. If you do have every type of error, then you would have to take removal steps for each type of error.

5 Tips For An Unbreakable Password

Despite the current wave of identity theft and corporate security breaches it's amazing how very few people treat their passwords with any level of seriousness. Most computers users, both at home and in the office, see passwords as a nuisance and therefore make them as easy to remember as possible. This can be a catastrophic mistake.

There are certain specific guidelines you need to follow to choose a safe and secure password. Use the following tips as a "how to" on making your password secure.

1. Your password must be alphanumeric. That simply means a mixture of numbers and letters such as xpf2778z. Why? When a hacker tries to break into a system they often use what are called dictionary or brute force hacks. A dictionary hack is an application that simply uses standard words and word combinations in an attempt to guess your password. For example many computer users use the word "password" as their actual password. A dictionary hack would crack that password in a few moments. Using alphanumeric passwords increases the number of possible password combinations by millions.

2. It should be 6 - 8 characters in length. The longer the password the harder it is for a hacking program to get around. If your password was abc then there are 6 possible password combinations. If your password was abc123 there are now over 720 password combinations possible. If your password was abc1234 there are now almost 6,000 possible combinations. Never, ever use a short password only comprised of letters.

3. Never use personal details in your password. People often use their home address, their age, husband or wives name, their social security number or their date of birth. These are incredibly easy to get access to by either a fellow employee or potential system hacker. Your password needs to be secure and hard to guess and personal details meet neither of these criteria.

4. Do not write your password down anywhere. Keeping a record of your password for somebody to find is as dangerous as keeping a copy of your ATM pin number in your wallet beside your ATM card. Create a memorable password that you'll have no problem recalling. This is not as hard as it sounds and if you jot some password ideas down you'll quickly come up with some good ones. Obviously burn the piece of paper you jotted your ideas down on.

5. Do not use the same password for more than 90 days. Create several variants of the same password and recycle them every 60 - 90 days. This adds an extra layer of security to your data. By recycling your password frequently you make your data 1000% more secure. You'll notice that most large corporates force their employees to change their password every month for this exact reason.

Hopefully these tips will help you choose a password that's both safe and secure and that you'll have some fun creating your new passwords too!

Finding Photo Editing Software

If you take a lot of pictures, or are getting ready for an event where you'll want to have lots of quality photos to include in your family album (i.e. weddings, holiday get-togethers), you'll want to know more about photo editing software that is both affordable and easy to use. Here are some software programs for editing photographs and graphics that you may want to check out.

Virieu has a free photo editing program that is easy to use, and is compatible with most computers. With the program, you can add captions to your pictures, 'frame' your portraits digitally, and make your photos into backgrounds for your screen or to send out in your email by using the fade and shade features that come along with the program. The programs will also show you how to darken or lighten certain sections of the picture, so that you can remove certain items from your photograph. You can try the editing software out for free during a 21-day trail, and then the service is $29.00.
www.reallusion.com also has a wide variety of editing equipment to try that will make any picture you take look professional and impressive. You can take advantage of the muscle-based facial enhancement feature, so that you can 'fix' the faces of the people you take pictures of to create a more flattering photograph.

Other products from the company include the Effect 3D Studio, a graphics editing and design program that allows you to make animated graphics no matter what your skill level is. You can also purchase CrazyTalk, a program that allows you to create animated talking characters for PowerPoint and DVD presentations. Most computers are equipped to download the programs (a Windows 98 or higher is usually acceptable), and you can try the products out before you purchase any of the programs.

In order for you to download, edit, and save your photos on your computer, you'll need a digital camera to take your pictures with. Brands like Canon and Olympus have great digital cameras that are easy for you to use, and produce quality photos that you can save on your computer. You may also want to pick up a book or two with some more basic information on photo editing software, so that you'll know which programs are easiest to use and most affordable. You can also find new and used photo editing programs, such as Instant Photo Editor on sites like www.amazon.com, with complete CD-ROM instructions on how to make sure you edit great photos every time you use the program.

Secure Passwords

Keeping Your Passwords Secure
As the web has evolved, so have the methods of collecting personal information. A large number of websites require visitors to register to gain access or participate. While the need for registration is understandable, tracking user names and passwords can be burdensome. Consider using software to store your passwords, in a safe accessible manner.

Most websites have privacy policies, but the value of privacy statements are only as honorable as the people behind the websites. Here are suggestions for keeping passwords and your information secure:

1.) change your password frequently
2.) never share your password with anyone
3.) try to choose a password so it doesn't need to be written down, but not so obvious others would easily guess the password
4.) be sure your password is at least 6 characters
5.) don't use a password containing all the same characters
6.) don't send your password via email or provide it over the phone
7.) don't use pet, family or friend names
8.) don't use your telephone number, zip code or address
9.) use a different password for each account
10.) don't use user name
11.) deactivate accounts for terminated employees
12.) don't allow shared accounts
13.) password contains upper, lowercase letters, non-letter characters and numbers

Passwords are not foolproof. Do not rely on a password alone to protect sensitive information. Monitor accounts closely to ensure that security is not breached.

Protect Your System From the Internet

Ads, Spyware and Popups: the Internet is an aggressively commercial place. Internet marketing is hugely profitable; owners of frequently visited websites can make a reasonable living just off a few banner ads placed on their site. Software was quickly developed that would attempt to block these ads from loading and being displayed leaving the Internet free from irritants so the user could just view the information that they were after. Not surprisingly the Internet fought back with ads becoming more and more tricky in their execution.

The Internet pornography industry is often at the forefront of new advertising technologies. It was they who first discovered methods to lock the 'back' button on the browser from allowing users who stumbled (accidentally or otherwise) into the 'darker' areas of the Internet. Then came Internet-hijacking: changing a browser's home page so that every time the Internet is connected the user is instantly taken to a certain site. There are ads that lie dormant in the system and pop up long after the user has moved on from the original site or even after they've stopped using the internet. These people went everywhere they could, and the rest of the Internet world soon followed.

So, how can we keep ourselves safe? Unfortunately, the answer usually lies in having a number of protection programs running in the background at all times which can slow down a computer. This is a lot more positive than having a computer terminally slowed down by the malicious side of the Internet though, so we just have to take the bad with the good.

The first port of call should be an anti-virus program. If you're even vaguely concerned about online security you're going to need one installed. A friend of mine decided that this was a foolish suggestion and picked up almost 100 viruses in a single day. These programs range in price and quality, with more expensive (but very good) packages such as Norton's Anti Virus (or their comprehensive Internet Security bundle) or free programs, such as AVG Free Edition, available from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

Once you have your computer protected from automated viruses it's time to shield yourself from malicious hackers and their kind with a firewall. Windows XP comes with a firewall straight out of the box, with Service Pack 2 offering security upgrades. MacOS also has a firewall. It's often not a bad idea to install a third party one though, as they are generally more customisable and in a lot of cases more secure. A few good firewalls are ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp) and Kerio Personal Firewall (http://www.kerio.com/kpf_home.html) as well as those offered in the commercial Internet security packages (such as Norton's, mentioned above).

Next up is the Spyware and ad blocking software that was the initial concern. The two major software packages for spyware protection and removal are Spybot- Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html) and AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) although there are alternatives including a recent Microsoft release. (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx).
These threats are often not dealt with by Internet security packs (strangely enough) although some protection is now starting to be included.

Chances are you will have picked up an ad blocker somewhere in the collection of programs by now, but just in case you can make your Internet browsing experience a less commercial affair by downloading software such as Hitware Lite (http://www.rightutilities.com/products/hitwarelite/hitware_lite.htm) or Stop the Popup (http://www.stopthepopup.com/). These programs stop ads before they reach you, leaving you to browse only the information you're after.

Besides installing protection software your best bet is just to be careful with your surfing. Don't open weird emails with strange attachments if you don't know the origins (don't even open the email... often the viruses and Trojans will have an auto open script written into the email itself, so you've instantly opened up your computer by simply looking at the email). Be careful about the sites you visit. Make sure that you're well protected before entering the Internet 'grey' areas, such as ROM, Warez, Appz etc. sites. If you perform a web search and some of the sites that show up have descriptions and titles consisting only of keywords, it's usually a fair bet that you should stay clear of that site. It usually won't have anything useful to offer and may contain hazardous material. With a bit of care you can keep your system going strong and enjoy the Internet safely and relatively ad free.

Defragmenting Your Hard Drive

Have you ever noticed how your computer seems to run slower and slower each week? Did you think it was just your imagination? Think again.
Your computer really is getting slower as a result of a common but completely fixable problem: the defragmentation of your hard drive. Any time you view a web site, install a game, download an MP3, or create a new file, your computer is saving that data in chunks on your hard drive. As more data is added, the chunks get moved around and separated from one another. This process is fragmentation.

The problem with fragmentation is that when your computer goes to load your game, call up that file, or play that MP3, it must piece together those chunks which are now spread around your hard drive. This process takes longer, thus your computer runs slower. The more data you have on your hard drive, the slower your system gets.

You can fix the problem easily by defragmenting your hard drive. If you use a Windows operating system, it comes with a manual defragmentation tool. However, the first time you use it to "defrag," you probably won't be able to use your computer for at least an hour or possibly longer depending on the size of your hard drive, the amount of data it contains, and the severity of the fragmentation. Because the process takes so long, many users put it off which means the problems get worse and defragmentation will take even longer.

A better idea then is not to rely on a manual defragmentation program but instead to invest in a program that will do this for you automatically. These types of programs usually work behind the scenes and don't rely on you to tell them when to start. Diskeeper 8.0 is one such program.

Diskeeper allows you to keep your hard drive defragmented and running smoothly without interrupting your office routine. For one, it allows you to continue working on your computer during the defragmentation process. It won't cause your system to slowdown to a crawl the way manual defragmentators will.

Additionally, Diskeeper lets you set it to start working automatically when your screen saver is activated so while you're out to lunch, the program can be working to reorganize your hard drive's data more efficiently. The program also uses "Smart Scheduling" to analyze the level of your computer's fragmentation and correct the problem as necessary so you don't have to wait until your computer's decrease in speed becomes unbearable.

It also allows you to pause, and then continue the process, which can be handy just in case you need to leave the office early and don't want to leave your system on all night.

Programs like Diskeeper can have a tremendous impact on the efficiency of your computer. For example, independent lab tests found that systems running Diskeeper saw a speed increase of 200%. In fact, automatic defragmentation tools can often provide you with load times faster than you've experienced since the first week you owned your computer.

Even if you don't install games or download programs or files regularly, fragmentation can still be a serious problem on your system, especially if you receive a large volume of emails each day. Each time you read one of those emails, you are adding more chunks of data to your hard drive and slowing down your computer even more. If you get just ten emails a day, it wouldn't take long for you to start seeing a significant decrease in your system's efficiency and an inefficient computer costs you more in lost productivity every day.

The bottom line is that defragmentation is a serious problem, but it is also an easy problem to solve. If you don't mind the hassles involved in using the "built in" defragmentation tool in your operating system, then you should definitely be using it on a regular basis. On the other hand, if you want a more convenient solution, programs like Diskeeper might be your answer.

Free Anti Spyware programs available for direct download

My search for free spyware programs I can download began when I decided to protect my computer and my privacy from malicious Spyware programs. I already knew that there were things called Spyware and Adware out there on the Internet, and that I really ought to protect myself from them by installing one of these for free spyware programs I can download. But somehow I kept putting it of and never really got around to start searching for free spyware programs I can download until two weeks ago when a particularly annoying piece of software lured itself into my precious computer and began to harass me constantly by changing my Start Page to the page of some bogus search engine. It was also impossible for me to do a normal web search. Each time I tried to access one of the larger search engines, I was promptly redirected to this fake search engine. This is when I realised that I could no longer keep putting the search for free spyware programs I can download off.

Spyware programs can cause a lot of harm, and even when they stick to relatively harmless mischief such as displaying those irritating pop-up commercials I still view it as a large intrusion of privacy that someone might be gathering and storing information about me, without my knowledge or consent. I therefore set out on my online journey, trying to find free spyware programs I can download. It thought it would be a piece of cake. I mean, we have all seen those blinking banners about free anti-spyware programs, haven't we? Well, it turned out to be much harder to find free spyware programs I can download than I first expected.

When I did a little research I quickly found out that a lot of the so called Anti-Spyware programs heavily marketed in banner advertisements online are actually fake Anti-Spyware programs. They are promoted as free spyware programs I can download, but are in reality created by the same persons that gain from the Spyware programs. All these fake free spyware programs I can download will not protect my computer at all. Instead, a majority of them will even install new Spyware on the computer! When a computer user scans his or her computer, the fake program will claim that all Spyware have been removed. In reality, the Spyware is still there and can continue to send out personal data each time the computer is connected to the Internet. So, I had to be very careful in my quest for free spyware programs I can download.

I also clicked on advertisements for several pages that claimed to provide free spyware programs I can download; only to find out that those programs was not free at all. When I read the fine print, some kind of fee always turned up. Another problem that I encountered when searching for free spyware programs I can download was that some programs are only free for a limited period, sometimes as little as a week. I know from experience with other types of software that one week is not enough to find out whether I feel comfortable with a program or not. Besides, I was looking for really free spyware programs I can download, not semi-free ones. I want to be able to switch to a new program if a program doesn't suit me, or if I new program is released that is much better than my current one. If I use Anti-Spyware programs that come with a large fee, I'm not able to do this without seriously over-heating my credit card. How ever, after almost giving up hope I found several free spyware programs I can download. I am currently using one of them, and will try out another one next month. So, my advice to all of you out there is to take your time when searching for free spyware programs to download. I finally found several free spyware programs I can download, and so will you. But be careful, always read the fine print and only download Anti-Spyware programs from reputable sites.

Improve PC Performance - 6 Tips You Must Know.

Are you frustrated with your PC?

Is it feeling sluggish or crawling at a snail's pace?

Are programs running slower than they used to?

Are you just plain fed up with frequent slowdowns, freezes or crashes?

Then it's time to stop what you're doing and optimize your system to improve PC performance!

Follow these 6 simple sure-fire tips to help improve PC performance and you'll be surprised by the results! Each comes with an indication of how often you should do it.

Improve PC Performance Tip #1:
CLEAN UP YOUR WINDOWS REGISTRY (Frequency = Daily)

This is an essential, but often overlooked, task to improve PC performance. In fact most PC users are unaware of the necessity to regularly clean the Registry as Microsoft does not include a cleanup tool in any version of Windows.

Every time a program is installed it makes changes to the Windows Registry - a huge internal database of Windows' settings. Virtually all Windows programs, and Windows itself, store a massive array of information inside the database. These thousands of entries control the behavior and appearance of virtually everything on your system.

Changes to your PC system are not always handled correctly in the Registry, leading to conflicts and the slowing down of your PC. Over time this leads to a bloated and possibly, corrupted Registry. Reasons for this include:

- frequently installing or uninstalling programs
- removing a program which leaves traces behind
- leftover entries from a hardware uninstall
- unused drivers on your system
- Spyware or similar programs that reappear every time you reboot

You can edit the Registry manually using a Windows program called Regedit, but this is really a job best left for hardened PC experts.

Thankfully, programs are available that can clean up your Registry automatically to help improve PC performance, such as "Registry Optimizer '06". This scans your Registry, looks for entries that are redundant or invalid and lists them so that they can be corrected with one mouse click. As an added bonus, to improve PC performance, it runs automatically in the background every time you start your PC.

Improve PC Performance Tip #2:
EMPTY THE RECYCLE BIN (Frequency = Weekly)

Regularly empty Windows' Recycle Bin.

This will release hard drive space and help improve PC performance.

When you choose to delete a file, rather than removing it completely from your computer, Windows first puts it into the Recycle Bin. This gives you a second chance, as it means you can restore flies from the Recycle Bin back to their original place on your computer.

To ensure optimum PC performance, empty your Recycle Bin weekly (or even daily). To do so, right-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

Improve PC Performance Tip #3:
REMOVE PROGRAMS (Frequency = Monthly)

Installing programs is easy - but once you have, it's just as easy to end up leaving them languishing, forgotten, on your hard disk.

Most programs come with their own uninstaller. You'll find this under the program's entry in All Programs, from the Start menu.

If the program doesn't come with its own uninstaller, open Control Panel from the Start menu, and double-click Add/Remove Programs. Your PC will pause briefly while it gathers a list of all the programs you have installed.

Once it has done so, find the program you'd like to get rid of, click it and then select Change/Remove.

Be aware that some programs leave uninstalled traces all over the Windows Registry! Therefore, to improve PC performance after an uninstall, it's essential to clean the Registry.

Improve PC Performance Tip #4:
RUN DISK CLEAN UP (Frequency = Monthly)

Windows' Disk Clean Up is a fantastic built-in utility that automates regular maintenance tasks to improve PC performance, such as deleting Temporary Internet files, Setup log files, etc.

To start Disk Clean Up, double-click My Computer, right click on your 'C:' drive and then select Properties. Now click Disk Cleanup. Your computer will then spend a few moments analysing itself.

When it has completed the audit Windows will give you a list of areas where it has found files to cleanup. To clean an area, put a tick in the box next to it. To leave something intact, such as Temporary files, just remove the tick next to the item and click OK.

Your computer will then begin the removal process to improve PC performance - this can take some time.

Improve PC Performance Tip #5:
DISK DEFRAGMENTATION (Frequency = Quarterly)

When Windows stores programs on your PC hard disk it saves fragments of files in the nearest empty spaces.

This slows down your PC as it has to spend time hunting down the fragments and piecing files together.

There is a simple cure - running the Windows program Disk Defragmenter. This gathers together the fragments of programs and puts them back in the right order.

This makes it far easier for your hard disk to find what it's looking for, enabling programs and files to load more quickly - a sure-fired way for improving PC performance.

To defragment your hard disk click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then Disk Defragment. When the program has loaded, click Defragment.

The process can take well over an hour. Because defragmenting your hard disk takes such a long time, you really don't want to go through the process too often.

Defragment your hard disk every 3 months or so - this way you'll get the best results and optimize the performance of your PC.

Improve PC Performance Tip #6:
EMPTY THE PREFETCH CACHE (Frequency = Quarterly)

To improve the time it takes to load programs, Windows guesses which files are likely to be needed next and loads them into a pool or 'cache'.

This process is called prefetching, and it generally works well. Overtime, though, the prefetch cache can become clogged with files you no longer need - and that can slow down Windows' startup.

To clear Prefetch, choose Run from the Start menu, and enter Prefetch into the text box that appears. When you've done that, you'll be confronted by a window filled with icons. Press Alt+A to select them all and press Delete.

The cache will quickly refill with links and files that Windows really needs. As a result, your system will feel more responsive and benefit from a PC performance speed up.

So there you have it, 6 sure-fired PC performance tips to revitalize your PC. Now you know how to improve PC performance - simply follow these steps and repeat them regularly.

Essential Software

By Shelley Lowery

An essential part of running a successful Internet business is quality software. Software will play a major roll in your success. You must be willing to invest in the software you'll need to assist you in running your business.

Email Program

The first and most important software you'll need is a quality email program. Although most Internet Service Providers include email accounts for their customers, these accounts aren't adequate for an Internet business -- especially if you get a large amount of email. Not only do the email addresses contain your ISP's name, but they are also very limited on features and options.

There are many email programs available on the Internet. However, the best program I've found is Eudora. Eudora is a standalone email program that works with any ISP. It will enable you to easily organize your email by filtering your messages into specific mailboxes. This feature alone can save you a great deal of time. What's more, your email address will be your own domain -- not someone else's.

Mailing List Software

Collecting your visitors' email address is one of the most important parts of developing a successful Internet business. You must develop a database of potential customers if you truly want to succeed. Publishing an ezine is a great way to accomplish this. In order to do so, you must have a good mailing list program that will enable you to send your potential customers personalized messages.

If you're using a software program that resides on your computer, you'll also need a good form processing script to enable your visitors to subscribe:

Before you begin the actual design process, I highly recommend that you download and install two web browsers -- Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. These are the two most widely used browsers on the Internet. However, they are not created equally. Your page might look great when viewed through Internet Explorer, but may not display well when viewed through Navigator. It is very important that you view your website through both browsers, and design your pages accordingly.

Graphics Editor

Graphic design is an intimidating subject for many Internet entrepreneurs. However, most of us must learn some basic design techniques in order to avoid the high costs of hiring a professional designer.

In order to create or edit your graphics, you'll need to invest in a good graphics program. The most popular program used by Internet marketers is Paint Shop Pro. This powerful program is the only program you'll need to design professional looking graphics.

Zip/Unzip Program

Zip files are used to compress and transport file archives over the Internet. It is the preferred method used for electronic file distribution, as rather than downloading several different files, you can simply download one Zip file. In addition, the download time will be minimized, as the files within the Zip archive are compressed.

Once a Zip file is downloaded, it can be easily opened and extracted (unzipped) with a Zip/Unzip software program.

Although there are many Zip software programs available on the Internet, WinZip is the most popular. WinZip makes working with file archives simple.

FTP Program

File Transfer Protocol, better known as FTP, is a procedure used to upload and download files to and from your web server.

In order to use FTP, you'll need to download and install a software program on your computer. The most widely used FTP program is WS FTP Pro.

Text Editor

Text editors have a variety of uses such as writing HTML, editing scripts, and writing ezine articles -- just to name a few. NotePad is an excellent text editor and is most likely already installed on your computer. However, it can't handle large files and is better suited for smaller files. You may find that you'd like an editor that is a little more powerful. I use a great program called NoteTab Pro. This powerful editor will enable you to edit large files, format your text, convert your text to HTML, and even includes a spellchecker and thesaurus.

Ad Tracking

Testing and tracking your marketing strategies is an essential part of your success. I recommend using a great script called LnkinLite. It's simple to use and will assist you in tracking all of your strategies.

Financial Management

In order to keep track of your business financial matters, you'll need to invest in a good financial management software. The best program I've found is Quicken. However, as this program is very difficult to use and understand, you may want to use a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel, and set up your own system.

Quicken

Tax Program

Filing your taxes and keeping up with the ever-changing tax laws can be very intimidating. However, if you keep good records and use a good tax program, you can file your taxes with ease. I highly recommend using Turbo Tax. This great program will make the process a lot easier and even enable you to file your taxes electronically. What's more, it will even allow you to import your Quicken files.

Turbo Tax

Although this list of software is far from complete, it will provide you with a basic guideline to get you started.

If you're serious about your business and you really want to succeed, purchasing software is an absolute must. Do your homework and select software that best suits your needs. It will be well worth the investment.

How To Increase Computer Speed And Performance

Many computer users are worried about their computer's performance. After spending lot of bucks, still they cannot have that charm of using PC as they had expected. Here I am going to explain some major tricks which are used by many computer users which help them to take efficient use of their CPU.

These tips could be of little importance for people who are already using processors with speed more than 2400 MHz but people using computer with less speed and little older mother boards and processors will enjoy these tips. They will realize significant increase in their computer's performance.

Here are these tips:

1. Operating system choice:

You will be amazed to know that your choice of choosing right windows or operating system could play a significant role on your CPU's performance. For example if you are given 5 bricks to carry them to next apartment and then 10 bricks to do same. Think how would be your performance if compared with both situations. Obviously you would perform well when carrying only 5 bricks.

Same is the case with Microsoft windows. The lighter the windows you have, higher the performance will be shown. Now this does not mean that you should install Windows 95. Here is the order of Windows weight: Windows XP (any addition) > Windows 2000 > Windows Me > Windows 98 (the lightest one). So if you have Pentium 4 with good ram then I would recommend you to use Microsoft Windows XP. People using Pentium 3 computers could use windows 2000 or if they have ram more than 256 MB then they can use windows XP too. All other lower speed users should use windows ME or 98.

You would have to compromise between speed and quality. You can decide now which operating system you should use now.

2. Partitions:

Before starting this topic I would like to give you a simple example. Suppose in one case if 100 items are placed in a house having only 2 rooms and you are required to find item no. 89, from second room. You will have to scroll through 50 items in room two to find item 89. In other case if same 100 items are placed in house having 4 rooms and you are required to find item 89 from room 2 then you would have to scroll through only 25 items present in that room and you would spend less time.

Same is the case here for partitions. If you are having more number of partitions, it would help your windows more to find required data easily from your hard disk, when you run any file or program. I would advice you to have more partitions each having at least 5 GB memory and maximum 20 GB.

You should be very careful while partitioning your hard drive and believe me many people make mistakes when they partition hard disk and lose all of their important data. Here is a free resource Windows Setup Guide that can help you to learn about partitioning, formatting hard disks and installing windows.

3. Defragment Your Hard disks:

Your partitions become more fragmented when you create or delete folders, save new files, delete or move them and they become scattered on you hard drive and as time passes, windows become slower and slower due to time needed by the system to find required file on hard disk. You can learn more about why volumes become fragmented by using "Disk Defragmenter" Help.

My main point is that your computer becomes lazy with time. I am sure many of you have observed that after installing windows, computer become slower gradually with time. So I would strongly recommend you that you use Disk Defragmenter regularly, at least a week. I know it is quite boring process but while taking bath, lunch start it. Believe me you will feel the difference later.

4. Frequency of Changing Windows:

I would like you to compare the difference between speeds of your computer when you freshly installed windows and now. I know your answer! Obviously now you will be feeling your PC lazier than before.

This is all due to many factors such as file fragmentation; increasing of windows registry size, increase in number of files and folders in your primary partition and also because of some viruses and spy wares.

I would strongly suggest you that you should reinstall windows after formatting your primary partition at least every 3 months. That will keep your computer always efficient. Many people think that formatting hard drive is not good. That is almost a wrong illusion. Formatting your partition every 3 months and installing fresh copy of windows will considerably increase your computer's performance. Same website Windows Setup Guide could help you regarding this matter.

5. My last tip:

Finally do not save junk, programs, movies, games and almost anything you can on your windows partition that is usually C: and believe me your computer would show optimal performance for longer time and provide fewer errors.

It is better you make your "My Documents" folder in other drive than C: as well as make also Program Files folder so install everything like Microsoft office e.t.c there not in windows installation drive. Do it and feel the difference.

Always check for your programs which automatically run at startup and use your computer's significant resources. Try to disable them carefully and feel the change in performance. Here is a way to check which programs and processes start automatically when windows starts.
Go to START->Run then type "MSCONFIG" then you can see which your memory consuming programs are.
If you do not want to do anything above and want shorter way with shorter improvements then create new user account and delete previous one. You will observer a slighter change and this also removes many errors if present in windows.

If you cannot even do this then why you wasted your time by reading this article and do something else ;)

I have tried my best to show all possible ways that could help you all to improve your computer performance.

Should Your Next Big Screen TV be a Plasma HDTV?

Are you looking for a new big screen TV? There are several choices of different technologies for your next big screen TV. Right now one of the best and most popular items available is the Plasma HDTV technology. But how do you know which model is the right one for you? Here are some brief descriptions of the CRT technology, LCD screens, Plasma HDTV, and projectors so you can better understand your options for your next big screen TV.

CRT TVs

While it may not be as high-tech as a Plasma HDTV screen, you can still get a big screen TV with the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) technology (small cathode ray tubes that produce color to create images), also known as direct-view televisions. CRT is the basic technology for televisions that everyone is familiar with and is most commonly available. While they are bulkier and do not have the same image quality as the newer technologies, CRT screens still provide good color, have a long life, can be viewed in brightly lit rooms, and are available for decent prices. CRT screens exist in wide screen and flat screen options. CRTs are built to last, with picture quality that does not fade. A CRT is a good economical choice. However, when Plasma HDTV becomes less expensive in the future the CRT TVs will probably become extinct.

LCD TVs

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens consist of two polarizing transparent panels with a liquid crystal solution in the center that is in a state between solid and liquid. LCD is flat and lightweight, which makes the LCD technology popular for laptop and even some desktop computer screens. The biggest detriment of this type of TV is its limit in size (about 40 inches). The LCD screen is a good choice if you are not interested in getting a large screen.

Plasma HDTV

Plasma HDTV is one of the best and most impressive technologies in the market right now. The plasma screen consists of tiny gas plasma cells that are charged at exact electrical voltages to make a picture. It uses a digital technology that has a higher resolution than the CRT TV screens. The Plasma screens can be produced to have the resolution to watch HDTV. As of now, Plasma HDTV is still superior to LCD screens in displaying blacks which means it has better contrast and picture. They also have better viewing angles than the LCD screens.

The Plasma HDTV not only gives you superior picture quality but it is also smooth and sleek. These screens are flat and light (but not quite as light as the LCD screen) and can be hung on the wall like a picture and are not limited in screen size as the other models are. However, this new technology is still very expensive.

Projectors

Projectors, although
not technically a television, are a popular way to get the big screen experience. Quality projectors will give you a good picture and they are excellent for watching movies or playing games. However, you need to have a blank wall or screen and lights have to be dimmed or off to watch it since the projector's light is dim.

With a better knowledge of the CRT technology, LCD Screens, Plasma HDTV, and projectors you can make a better decision on what type of big screen TV you want to have. With so many choices it is important to know what you are selecting from. If you are serious about your television watching experience, than you will want to get Plasma HDTV for your next big screen TV purchase. This will give you the sharpest image out of all your choices.

Digital SLR Camera versus a Compact Digital Camera

Digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras are excellent cameras that produce clearer, sharper and more colourful images than most point and shoot digital cameras available. With prices falling rapidly, they are now more affordable then ever. With the price gap between an entry model digital SLR camera and the most expensive compact digital camera narrowing; the question is do I spend the extra money and get a Digital SLR camera? or save a few hundred dollars and purchase the best digital compact camera.

Well, it really depends on your budget; however if you do spend the extra money, here's what you get:

In addition to the price falls in the Digital SLR models, the performance on these cameras has increased year on year with the latest Digital SLR cameras being quicker and faster than ever before. They have improved to such an extent that power up or start-up time is near instantaneous with virtually no lag time. "Lag time is the time between you pressing the shutter release button and the camera actually taking the shot". This delay can vary quite a bit between different camera models and it is one of the biggest drawbacks compared to a compact digital camera. The latest digital SLR cameras have virtually no lag times and react in the same way as conventional film cameras, even in burst mode. Compact digital cameras are catching up; however the difference is still significant. A lag time of ~0.5 seconds can result in you missing the heartbeat of the moment and hence that potential great picture.

Digital SLR camera also has a larger sensor versus a smaller sensor in a compact digital camera. This equates to higher sensitivity and less noise and results in the camera taking clearer pictures in low light. (They also have better autofocus speed in low light as well). A measure of sensitivity in a digital camera is ISO and a typical ISO range for a Digital SLR camera varies from ISO 100 1600 with the latter being more sensitive. The ISO range for a compact digital camera varies from ISO 50 400. In summary, the higher the ISO rating, the greater the sensitivity and the better the photo can be taken in low light.

The Digital SLR cameras have a much longer battery life due to the limited use of the LCD screen. Please note, that as the LCD screen is only used for viewing the image, the battery life of a digital SLR can allow up to 2000 shots per charge in some cameras compared to 500 for a good point and shoot digital camera.

Digital SLR cameras also allow you to interchange lens such as adding a zoom or macro lens when required.
On the negative side of a Digital SLR camera; They are usually larger and heavier than compact digital cameras, the image cannot be previewed on the LCD screen prior taking the picture. If you really require the image to be viewed on the LCD prior to taking the picture, there are third party manufacturers that produce LCD screens that attaches to the viewfinder and allow the scene to be view just like a compact digital camera. The other drawback is the inability to take videos and finally, lenses are expensive with the majority costing more than the camera itself.

Although compact digital cameras cannot compete on features with a Digital SLR camera, they are great value, have the ability to take videos and are portable. If you have decided to purchase a Digital SLR camera I recommend you find further information using this great niche website http://www.infodigitalcamera.com for additional information on Digital SLR camera. If you are still undecided, purchase both.
